What is a Core Memory Session at Home Like?

Why choose a home session and who is it for?

Home sessions are perfect for maternity sessions, newborn sessions, and family sessions. Home is one of the first places your baby will ever know. It is where your kids will grow. It is where you have everything you need: diapers, wipes, snacks, extra outfits, and favorite toys. It is where your family does your favorite things and makes the most memories.

What does the flow of a home session look like?

When I first get there, I will say “hello” to everyone and ask for a quick house tour. I can always show myself around, if you are still getting ready. I will take a look around to assess the areas with the best light, turn off all overhead or ambient lighting, and open all the curtains or blinds to let the natural light in.

The areas with the best natural light are the spaces that we will shoot in. This may include the master bedroom, living room, kids’ bedrooms, or kitchen, really any space with good light. We will probably start inside and then make our way outside to the porch and frontyard/backyard.

What is the vibe of a home session?

A home session is super chill yet meaningful because it is your home. Home is not meant to be perfect or spotless. It is lived in and well-loved. It feels like a warm hug so the photos will too. Here, you can ditch the fancy clothes and shoes.

I know it is easier said than done for your family to just “be yourselves” in-front of a camera, but a session in the coziness of your own home does make it easier for everyone to relax.

What do we do during a home session?

Don’t worry, I will guide you. I like to incorporate meaningful activities, routines, and movement during home sessions so you aren’t just posing. I also want the photos to spark memories and happiness, so if you are all doing something that is meaningful, the photos themselves will be meaningful too.

These activities could be anything your family finds meaningful like reading, bath-time snuggling, baking, playing outside, you name it. For newborns, this may look like feedings, snuggling, and changing.

When you book a session with me, I will send out a questionnaire which gives me a jumping off point for collaboration on creating a meaningful session for your family.

What happens after the session?

I always say the images will take about 4 weeks to process, but the good news is that you will probably get them sooner. You will receive the digital images via an online gallery and then it is time to get your images printed! With the purchase of a home session, you get $50 print credit to shop the online print store for loose prints, framed prints, or an album (which I professionally design for you). This gets your favorite images out of the digital world and into your hands, where they can be shared, loved, and cherished by your family.

How do we book?

It’s easy! Fill out a contact form here. Via email, I will send you the link to my calendar so you can book your date. I can’t wait to hear from you! <3
